nooks
nooks was launched in May 2020 by Stanford students Daniel Lee, Rohan Suri, Nikhil Cheerla, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Andrew Qu.
Like nearly every other person unexpectedly flung into the world of remote work, the trio experienced online classrooms fatigue through school and classes. They saw a necessity to build a space for higher-performing teams and like-minded communities to enjoy working together.

TEAM WORKING
Pedagogical background
nooks is a developer of a meeting and video communication platform. It is a virtual office for the team to skip the fatiguing meetings and bring back impromptu collaboration and casual conversations.
This kind of tool can be effectively used in educational contexts for many purposes:
- Students can make calls as if they were sitting next to each other – Nooks integrates with tools like Zoom, Outreach, and SalesLoft to automatically share users’ live status (e.g. “In a Zoom meeting”) so they can stay connected with their team;
- Students can overhear background chatter and listen in – feeling the buzz of a classroom environment by overhearing other tables and conversations people are having live. If something piques users’ interest, they can easily listen in. This tool automatically lowers the background chatter when the user talking to a prospect;
- Students can start a conversation and ask a question or share learnings – Starting a conversation with someone is easy and take only one click. After calls users can ask a question or share learning;
- Getting more connections, faster – The Nooks dialer automates detecting bad numbers, auto-drops voicemails, and dials up to 10 numbers at once, so users can spend more time in actual conversations.
